
Significant growth in the region, especially over the last two decades, has increased traffic on US Route 202 to levels well beyond those that the two-lane highway originally was designed to handle. In fact, 73,000 vehicles a day now travel on this section of Route 202, and the improvements we have planned will help the highway carry its present and future traffic more efficiently.
Under the overall Section 300 project, PennDOT will utilize significant federal and state transportation funding, most of which is collected at the fuel pump and through licensing fees, to:

Work includes reconstruction and widening of US 202 between Mill Lane and North Valley Road, construction of a collector/ distributor road and ramp modifications/widening at the PA 29 interchange, widening and rehabilitation of the US 202 bridges over Valley Creek and North Valley Road, drainage improvements and construction of stormwater management basins, and construction of sound barrier walls.
The project will begin in March 2011.

The proposed work includes the reconstruction and widening of US 202 between US 30 and Mill Lane, the replacement of the US 202 bridges over PA 401 and the future Chester Valley Trail, widening and rehabilitation of the US 202 bridge over Planebrook Road, ramp modifications/widening at the PA 401 interchange, drainage and stormwater management improvements, and construction of sound barrier walls.
Anticipate completing all pre-construction work and letting the project on 3/15/2012.
