To celebrate the Beeline’s fifth anniversary, TMACC will launch a special promotion this month that will award riders a free ten-trip ticket for each one that they purchase.
The Beeline is a special commuter bus that provides service during peak commuting periods from the Coatesville, Downingtown and Exton areas to Great Valley, Mondays through Fridays.
The Beeline was launched in 2007 to provide an alternative to commuters who need to travel to and from Great Valley during the reconstruction of a six-mile stretch of U.S. Route 202 in East Whiteland Township. The highway widening project is expected to be completed in 2015.
Beeline ridership has increased each year since 2007. Last year, Beeline had nearly 12,000 riders, an increase of 165 percent since its first year.
“We hope the ‘buy one, get one” free promotion will be a great incentive for commuters to choose the Beeline over driving through the construction zone,” said P. Timothy Phelps, TMACC Executive Director. “Reducing the number of single occupancy vehicles on our roads is our mission.”
Phelps said the special promotion will expire on June 29.
TMACC staff will be distributing brochures and flyers businesses in the Great Valley Corporate Center and along Business Route 30 from Malvern to Exton Square Mall.
Funding for the Beeline is provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) under congestion management for the U.S. Route 202, Section 300 reconstruction project. Planning partners include the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), SEPTA and Chester County Planning Commission.
