TMACC ADDS NEW STOP ON BEELINE ROUTE

MALVERN, PA – Effective Monday, Jan. 7, the Transportation Management Association of Chester County’s (TMACC) Beeline bus will serve the Great Valley campus of Wyeth.

To celebrate the new service, the TMACC and Philadelphia soft rock radio station B-101 will host an “Un-BEE-lievable Bus Service” event at the pharmaceutical giant’s Great Valley campus on Jan. 11.

As part of the promotion, the TMACC will offer all Beeline commuters free rides from January 14 through January 18.

The Beeline, which began operations on February 20, 2007, provides service during peak commuting periods from the Coatesville, Downingtown and Exton areas to Great Valley, Monday through Friday.

Other stops of the Beeline bus route include Coatesville, Thorndale, Downingtown at Kerr Park, Exton Square Mall, Siemens Medical Systems and Vanguard in the Great Valley area.  Bus fare is $2.00 each way; an additional zone charge is $.60 per zone.

“It was necessary to alter the Beeline’s route to serve one of the largest employees in the Great Valley area and to provide congestion relief for that area of East Whiteland Township,” said Michael E. Herron, TMACC Executive Director.  “Considering Uptown Worthington [the major development underway adjacent to Wyeth’s campus], we felt that bus service to the area would provide commuters with much-needed options.”

Uptown Worthington, a 96-acre, $420 million mixed-used development, will include a Wegmans Food Market, a 14-screen theater, 303 condominiums, 74 townhouses and 185,000 square-feet of office space.  Once completed in Spring 2009, Uptown Worthington projects an estimated 7 million visitors per year.

“The decision to alter the Beeline’s route was definitely made with eye towards the future,” Herron explained.
